CITY OF MILAN – WATER SYSTEM UPDATE & BOIL ORDER NOTICE

CITY OF MILAN – WATER SYSTEM UPDATE & BOIL ORDER NOTICE

The City of Milan would like to provide residents with an update on yesterday’s water system issues and the current status of the boil order.

On Wednesday morning, May 20, 2026, city crews responded to a significant water leak in the system, resulting in water service interruptions and pressure concerns throughout the system. Crews worked throughout the day to isolate and repair the issue and restore system stability as quickly as possible.

Due to the pressure loss associated with the leak and repair efforts, a precautionary 24-hour boil order was issued for all City of Milan water customers, effective at 6:00 a.m. on May 20, 2026.

At this time, the boil order remains in effect pending the completion of required water quality testing and approval procedures. Until the order is officially lifted, customers are advised to continue boiling all water used for drinking, cooking, brushing teeth, food preparation, and ice making for at least three (3) minutes before use.

The City will issue another public notice as soon as testing is completed and the boil order can be lifted.

We appreciate the public’s patience, understanding, and cooperation while crews and staff continue working through this process.
